I have a similar style ring. Ruby center stone surrounded by Opals. Exact same markings hoping for info. I do know for a fact it originated in England. I would just like to try and find out when the ring was made and hopefully by whom

A single moonstone or quartz cabachon. Very curious about it.

Portuguese hallmarks by: Yvonne
Hi there no, i doubt Portugal, I had a quick research around Portugal hallmarking 1887 to Date.
I couldn't find anything that resembled this mark. To Portugal's credit, Portugal remains one of the most diligent hallmarking countries in the world. With an extensive variety of hallmarks, there are very few, if any, Portuguese metal articles that are not hallmarked. Back to the drawing board. The jewelry maker seems to have had a passion for garnets. Kind Regards Yvonne

Me too. by: Anonymous
I have the same markings on a gold ring with larger center garnet and 4 smaller garnets on corners. Family can identify the ring back at least 80 years but no one knows where it came from but Portugal is unlikely. Haven't been able to find out anything about it.

It could be a Frog by: Anonymous
James,
could not find any specific matches for these marks and they could just be a general Silversmiths/Jewelers individual initials (unregistered), the middle symbol looks more like a tiny little frog rather than the letter W.
If that's the case, an almost identical Hallmark was used as an Assay/Guarantee mark in several cities in Portugal incl. Lisbon and Porto, ca 1938 to Present and on items of mixed metals, i.e. Platinum and/or Gold and/or Silver in various proportions. Not sure if this is correct in this case, but it could very easily be a souvenir from Portugal ca mid-20thC onwards.

Garnet & Pearl Ring by: Anonymous
Interesting, is it the same stone - GARNET and pearl setting? Does it look exactly the same? Are there any differences? Where did your ring come from?

WWW ring by: HattieSmee
I have a ring like that too, with a ring around the middle W. It's garnet and opal set in rose gold but with no gold mark. Has a very Edwardian look to it. I'd love to know who made it.

We Have Seen That by: James
Yeah we have thought it might be White, Wile and Warner but have yet to see any examples of their mark with a circle around the middle W, which makes us not sure it is them.

Three W s On Ring by: Anonymous
Have you tried researching White, Wile & Warner (mostly on Rings, Manufacturing Jewelers, Buffalo, NY, USA) - ca 1910 - 1930.
