LUCKY by: Anonymous
I have my nan's wedding ring it is very worn but I can make out the word Lucky, I believe it was a second wedding band and it is very misshapen. The marriage was perhaps early 50's. Can you tell me what the Lucky meant is a shop brand?

Lucky by: Amy c
I have 2 gold wedding rings that belonged to my grandparents. They both have "lucky" engraved inside. Happy to send pics. We want to know if this is a brand or if they had it engraved. We can't ask so would love to know what this means.
Thanks

Also LUCKY by: Jen
I have an H Samuel gold ring. Mine is marked 18 and I think dates to 1972. However, my question is about "Lucky" written after the hallmarks. Also after LUCKY is the letter M. I would like to know more about the Lucky mark please.

p.s. it also says 'lucky' next to the hallmarks - what does this mean and this an H Samuel ring (the HS)? Is it worth anything?

Similar ring that I have but T instead of N by: Anonymous
Hi. I have a similar sounding ring - it is gold, marked HS, crown, 22, anchor but then a T instead of an N. I have looked at the Birmingham date chart but it seems to say it refers to silver jewellery but this is gold - is it the same? If so, the T seems to be 1791 but I am surpised by this as I just thought it was a fairly modern wedding ring (well it was my nan's so not that modern but i didn't think it was that old!).

Antique Gold Wedding Ring by: Anonymous
Hi Helen, we need to see the Birmingham (anchor is the Birmingham assay office) date letter to determine the age of the 22 carat gold wedding ring and then we can proceed to identify the sponsor's mark from there.
You will see the Birmingham date letter chart in the right hand corner of that page. Click on the link on the page that you reach from the above link and compare the shape of the letter N with the one on the ring. (be CAREFUL to also match the shape of the punch mark behind the letter. ie. square, oval. not just the style of the letter itself).
Let me know the date you get and I'll research the maker HS this end if you can't find the maker in the Birmingham Makers Menu listed in alphabetical order at the the above mentioned link.
I'm certain this is a very special gold ring! Gold rings made of 22 carat gold is a traditional choice. Let me know if you run into any problems.
