Two questions: what material are they made from? Is the motif of the insect, which looks like a fly or maybe a beetle, made from multicolored tesserae - tiny little tiles-? Its hard to see in the photo, although the background looks like micro- mosaic...

I love your antique gold dangle earrings with insect mosaic - I have a pair of antique earrings dated 1860s and also for pierced ears with three dangles but they are carved from jet. Are your earrings gold?
I have never seen micro mosaic "flys" before - well they look to me like flys...
