Antique Opals by: Anonymous
Michelle,
The dates mentioned would fit the dates of maker below mentioned. Congratulations! Opals were a great favorite of Queen Victoria and whatever Jewelry Victoria favored, the people tried to emulate.
Opals are an organic gem, and soft on the MOHs scale of hardness.. Antique rings with good quality antique opals are rare. Can you describe the opals in more detail? I.e. Are they colorful?

Similiar Hallmark by: Michelle
I have an opal (3 across) with 4 diamonds (one looks replaced) with rose gold ring. It was given to me by my grandfather in 2000. The story behind the ring is that it was handed down from my grandfather's grandmother. We tried to determine how old it is since my grandfather was born in 1914 and therefore his grandmother would have been born in the mid 1800's. The inside of the band is similiar to the picture you have posted. There are no other markings. Any thoughts?
