What does the arrow mean?

My great grandmother just passed away and my daughter was given a jewelry box with a lot of jewelry inside. I don't want her playing with stuff that may be valuable and set aside for her when she's older and more responsible.

She has a ring with a very large stone (maybe a diamond) and the band has an arrow on it. It looks as if it is going through a letter n or u depending on if it is upside down or not. There is also a number 9 or 6..
