What do the markings on my antique gold ring mean?

This is my Grandfather's gold ring, he is from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England.
I have uploaded a picture also but the markings are:
ACCo, HMCrown, 18, Sideways-Anchor, y
(the lower case "o" above is a bit higher(see picture))
