I inherited a large costume jewelry collection from my grandmother. So far, I found one Weiss piece and started to become interested in collecting them. I've read many experts opinions (online) on recognizing fakes. What I'm not sure about is pasting. The brooch I inherited has stones only held on by prongs, no paste/glue. Did Weiss ever paste stones in place or always use prong settings?

We have this yellow hinged bracelet that looks similar to the thermoset clamper bracelets I have seen by Weiss, and is stamped 'Weiss' on the hinge. There are 5 rows of yellow stones on one half of the bracelet. It is 3/4" wides and 1/4" deep with a 2" inside circumference, I would think a size Small. What can you tell me about it, and is it of any value?

I wanted to warn people that jewel*world is selling a raft of fake Weiss pieces on eBay. I have made reports; let's see if eBay does the right thing.
Best,
Kerry

I am asking about a Weiss (marked) brooch that is multi-colored, leaf shaped with a stem and about 5-6" long.

Dear Vintage Costume Jewelry Guru,
Were any original Weiss pieces signed Weiss Regal?
I have several parures and keenly watch Weiss items for sale and have never seen this before (and yes - I tried googling it before I bothered you but couldn't find an answer).
I'd be thrilled if you can tell me more about this...

I have been reading about how many fake Weiss pieces are out there and I was wondering if one of the characteristics of a fake Weiss is the name WEISS on a raised plate rather then engraved in the molding. Are there real Weiss pieces with this plate? Thank you
Jamie

I have a signed WEISS brooch/pendent that was my great grandmothers. I'm having a hard time locating something that looks similar. My question is did Weiss make many porcelain hand painted Victorian brooches?

I have purchased a necklace with a hook clasp on one end but no eye on the other end. I have inspected the blank end to see if something is missing but there doesn't seem to be but if I simply slot the hook between the diamantes then the back of the necklace doesn't sit flat. I have googled some images on Weiss necklaces and it seems as though this is a usual fitting. So how is this supposed to look nice from behind? Many thanks. Sandra
