Wedgwood Cameo Ring

Elizabeth

thanks for writing in - so happy to hear how much you enjoy your cameo treasure you discovered in Paris. When it comes to cameo jewelry in general - the cameo ring is the rarest and the reason is because of the size and difficulties in carving a cameo with such fine detail within an extremely small area - like a ring. Wedgewood Jewelry is not carved however and if I were collecting Wedgwood cameo jewelry a good place to start would be Wedgwood cameo rings.

Each piece of Wedgwood jewelry should be marked "Wedgwood" or "Wedgwood Made in England" on the reverse. There may be other numbers and letters there as well that indicate the age of the piece. If you have a cameo that looks like Wedgwood but is not marked Wedgwood on the back, chances are it is not a real Wedgwood.

The hairline fracture would detract from the value, especially if the crack is noticeable from the front. I have no idea of the extent of the damage or the rarity of the piece, as I have no photographic clues. However I can tell you that the Cash value of the ring has nothing to do with the Insurance value and a jewelry appraisal will never be a disadvantage and will support an insurance claim.
