The setting is interesting, in this type of setting, diamonds or other stones, such as emeralds, are fit into tapered holes and set almost level with the surface of the ring. Some of the surrounding metal is then raised up to form tiny beads which hold the stones in place. Sometimes the metal around these bead-set stones is raised or engraved to form decorative patterns and design.
