Streamlining in the American Art Deco by: Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
Hi Pola
The style of your Pendant is that of American Art Deco in the late 1930s. Rock crystal and quartz were often incorporated into zigzags and chevrons and was a decorative artistic reply to "Streamlining" - this new aesthetics, was influenced by a society obsessed with speed and efficiency. -The design originated in the hydrodynamics field, and the pattern water leaves when it takes the path of least resistance, (like the lines the waves leave behind a motorboat) increasing speed and ease of movement.
The acknowledged genius of motor boat design was the American naval architect John L. Hacker. His pioneering work, included the invention of the 'v-hull' - (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorboat)
As we said previously, Streamlining and V shapes were applied to just about everything with the result of great advances in technological developments during this era.
Sleek angles became slightly curved and this idea of "streamlining" is strongly evident in your pendant. The rose quartz is also in keeping with this American art deco style.
Is it vintage style or true vintage? That's a hard call. The metal looks discoloured in some parts, and that could indicate roar quality.
