Do I understand. That They’re NOT natural or cultured pearls then, just costume jewelry knockoffs they could charge a bit more for… is that accurate?

Majorica pearls and the Pearl Riot by: Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
Good Morning Pam,
even the box itself sounds impressive! Majorica pearls closely mimick the luminosity of Natural peals. Their lustre does not fade overtime however. The reason is due to their production which involves individual applied coatings of "pearl essence" that closely resembles the natural layering deposits of nacre around a vitreous core. After each coating of the "pearl essence" has solidified - the pearls are resistant to chipping, scratches and exposure to perfumes and perspiration.
The year of the "Hobe Pearl Riot" was 2005 at the Vintage Fashion and Costume Jewelry Convention in Rhode Island, and in a scene more fitting for an Alpine Climbing Club, women scrambling over each other, to get a set of Majorica pearls by Mr Hobe.
I think one could safely have a boxed set of Majorica pearls by Hobe valued on-line, providing you have good close-up images.
