Trifari Costume Jewelry Marks, Streamlining Lining Art Deco by: Yvonne
Good Morning JoEllen,
Trifari Vintage Costume Jewelry is collectible, and some of the pieces can be quite pricey. Take a look at the Trifari Ming Monkey Pin!
History of Design:
Although America didn't officially attend the 1925 Exposition, Art Deco certainly crossed the Atlantic. Sleek parallel lines, grew even bigger and worked their way into American jewelry design. After the devil-may-care Roaring Twenties, The Great Depression stunned America. Business reacted and marketing jewelry became far more serious. As the decade progressed, the motifs of the Art Deco such as zigzags and chevrons remained the mainstay but were give a little extra luxe with American "streamlining". Hard angles of Art Deco became sleekly curved and rounded, and well suited to the new generation of plastics...
There are a number of variations of the Trifari Vintage Costume Jewelry mark, New York, USA - from 1920s - Present.
If the whole name - TRIFARI- appears, there should also be a crown above the T, (there are some variations).
Now, if on the other hand, you can see a crown above the T in Trifari, and directly after the name, C in a circle, in this variation of the vintage costume jewelry mark , it would be dated 1940s - Present.
It must be just the angle the photo was taken, or a trick of light, but the color of the earrings in the photo looks different to green V chevron in the pendant.
In my opinion, take your jewelry out tonight - Jewelry is meant to be seen and enjoyed.
