The West River Plantation Gold Ring

West Gold Ring
My wife and I live on what was an original working plantation in East Texas. Our home was built in 1857. Recently, my wife found a gold ring with a W goldmark stamped inside of it. Below the W is a symbol resembling a tree.
The ring is a simple band 1/4" in width. Can you help me identify the origin and possible value of this ring? I am sending a photo.
Also, how do I know when and where to look for a response from you? Thanks for your help!
