During the soviet occupation of Poland, which began on the 17th september, 1939 the whole country was subjected to the most ruthless plunder and the simultaneous process of nationalization of commerce was undertaken. All available stocks of goods were carried off to Russia. To give you an idea, the value of goods seized in the city of Lwow in Poland alone is estimated at about 15,000,000 British pounds sterling.
