OK. the post is a bit confusing. Is the animal mark a chimera? From Greek mythology, a chimera with body of lioness/lion with wings to upper body? A chimera mark was used in France on Imported Clocks - ca 1838 - 1893.
BTW the lion in the above mark is in the "lion couchant" position, lying down, but with the head raised.
