Austro- Hungarian hallmarks under unification... by: Anonymous
Hi Sinisa
thanks for writing in. Please tell us more about this interesting ring and its provenance, unfortunately, we cannot see any of the marks on the band. I'm assuming if the ring did originate from serbia in the 1900s it would have austria-hungarian hallmarks. It is also in remarkable condition if it is this old.
By 1900 many of the old kingdoms surrounding Serbia were still under Ottoman or Austro-Hungarian rule. In 1912 Serbia founded the Balkan League with Bulgaria, Greece and Montenegro. The first Balkan War in 1912 ended in an armistice, but in 1913 renewed fighting saw defeat of the Ottomans and their withdrawal from the Balkan region. The territories under Austro-Hungary remained unchanged.
