Hi there and thanks for writing in. I guess you had nothing much to lose trying this method if the pearls had turned whitish after their immersion in silver polish. Do you know if they are they simulated pearls?

Pearls in silver dip by: Anonymous
I put my pearl and silver earrings in silver jewellery dip and they went a Matt white colour. A jewellery shop recommend I put them in a hot soapy water solution. I did this and then used a mild non stick pan abrasive sponge on the pearl and was amazed and thankful that my earrings are now restored to how they used to look.
pearls ruined by: jimmy
I think your right. I have done the same thing only with turquoise in a native American piece. If you are steady enough you can use this type of cleaning with a tooth brush dipped in the solution. Only keep it on the silver. It will ruin many gems and other metals.
Pearls Dipped into the Silver Jewelry Solution! by: Yvonne
Sorry to read this. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything much you can do if the pearls went in the silver polish solution. You are not the first person in the world to do this.
I would put it down to an expensive learning experience.
