Thanks Dawn! Another OB maker's mark! by: Anonymous
You nailed that one Dawn! I've learnt something new from you today! I have an OB gold ring with the mark O 10K B Ostby & Barton Co. and apparently you are absolutley correct, they have used THREE maker's marks during the course of their years in business.
The arrows pointing to an Eagle Head was one of them!
The three marks were used on gold rings during the same period - 1879 - 1950.
As fate would have it, My Ostby along with his daughter Helen were passengers on the Titanic. He boarded the ship in Paris. He carried with him his old doctor's bag he always used when travelling.
Thanks for your input Dawn!

Its a Ostby & Barton 1910 or earlier. Hope this help your searches
two arrows pointing to an eagle head. I'm stumped. Two arrows pointing to a U is Uncas but an eagle? Are you sure it's an eagle?
Double eagle head marks can be found on France- Gold, when component parts are of the same precious metal, either a hinge or a link connected. An example would be a French gold watch-fob with a gold suspension ring, marked with the double eagle heads hallmark.
Kathy you are very welcome to resubmit a follow-up question and attach a photo or two or three. Please type "Eagle Head with Arrow on Each Side" in the title bar so I know that submission belongs to you.
