Symbols have lots of different meanings. It really does need a closer inspection of the whole necklace by an expert to decipher the symbols and to give a possible date and more valuable information. This could be a lovely piece of history you have there.
Maybe it was buried for a reason! especially if you are believer in having a personal item buried that once belonged to someone and must not be passed to others for spiritual reasons.
