Hi Cindy thank you for writing in with the following question:

"Found a 10K gold ring with a hallmark that I cannot find any info on. It is a B with a 5 point star in the center of the B. I had it tested and it came back 10K. It has green elongated stone and the stone has red specks in it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx Cindy."

Cindy, the stone you described is most likey Bloodstone. It is a green stone speckled with red spots resembling blood. This stone has been used for a stone for seals and also in the Middle Ages as an AMULET to prevent blood loss. The stone is also called HELIOTROPE and Bloodstone Jasper.

The hallmark B inside a five pointed star is used by:

B.A. BALLOU & Co. (Manufacturing Jewelers, Providence, RI, USA) - ca 1890s - Present
