Hi there nameless pearl, could you tell us what year in his-story he paid $ 2 195? How old are these pearls? Do you know what type of pearls are they? Cultured? What color are the pearls, what size? The length of the strand? Are they graduating in size?
Only mother of pearls and clams make pearls, silver and goldsmiths make clasps :-)
Are there knots between each pearl, one should never assume just because they are individually knotted they are fine quality pearls, but this an indicator.
RP - Real Perplexing mark, there are quite a few Silversmiths, (RP marks on Silver) RP spoon-makers, flatware & utensils, and thinking out loud... it will Not be Russian AKOV MIKHAILOVICH ROZEN Jewelers of St. Petersburg, Russia - ca 1880s - 1890s - this mark uses the Cyrillic alphabet - which is an alphabet (derived from the Greek alphabet) and used for writing Slavic languages (Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Ukrainian, and some other Slavic languages) and so the initials looks a bit odd to an Englesse.
It doesn't seem to make sense, that a clasp be Rolled Gold Plate considering the value of the pearls. If on the other hand the clasp is Rolled Gold Plate - the value will lay substantially in the pearls themselves - not the gold.
