David, you may be a retired postmaster but ne'er forgotten. David, the pearls need to be rethreaded and attached to hardware before anything else. If you have no joy in your area, I have professionals, pearl threaders in my area of Australia, who can rethread the pearls for you. The only little problem I can see, is a time delay; in matching the color and size of the seed pearl as close as possible to the other pearls on the clasp so they all match. Contact me David if you need any more assistance.
Warm Regards Yvonne
MAJORICA PEARL BRACELET by: Anonymous
I am making every effort to fnd the assistance I need with this, and so appreciate your help. It has certainly been a learning experience for me, thanks to your efforts and patience. I am currently looking for an appraiser in our area.
Again thank you so much, and if I may ever be of assistance please feel free to call on me. I refuse to give up not because of the value of the item, but instead to fin out and document the history of the piece for our family.
Thank God for people willing to help.
Dave Church Postmaster, Retired
Thank you by: Dave
Thank you so much for your response. I am totally unfamiliar with jewelry of any kind. I apologize for my impatience. I would be more than happy to pay for your opinion and if you could recommend someone who may be able to repair the bracelet I would be truly gracious. I just didn't know what direction to go in.
Thank you so much for your time and effort.
God Bless, Dave Church Crawdiddly@aol.com
Restringing Majorica Pearl Bracelet by: Yvonne
Hi Dave
As you have already noticed, these forums are quite active and we've been as busy as bees and brisk as larks in responding, in turn.
If time is of the essence, consider getting an Expert Opinion or an Appraisal. The above are both paid services and separate to the Jewelry Help Forums.
The Help Forums on Antique Jewelry Investor are Free but do not include valuations. For valuations you need to take out an Expert Appraisal.
Dave, Majorica Pearls are the crème de la crème of Imitation pearls. You can read about Majorica Pearls HERE.
The pearls look lovely in the photograph, however as the surface of the pearls, whether imitation or Natural pearls, is not as hard, as some gemstones, care should be taken in cleaning and storing them. Get the lowdown on the Mohs scale HERE.
The Bracelet is a desirable double strand, and the pearls need to be restrung and the separated strand attached back onto the Bracelet clasp. A seed pearl also needs to be replaced on this lovely clasp.
Dave, do you know someone locally who can restring your Bracelet? This would be the most cost effective.
