Old Ring, Single Hallmark

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help, I have a gold ring that has been passed down my Partner's Family. Not sure this will help but we know he has German and Irish Ancestry.

It's an old signet ring, so old the initials have been worn off. There is only one single hallmark on it. No idea whether the mark is a Thistle, Cauldron, fish, pot or vase (or something else).

Any info on what the hallmark is and where the ring may have been made would be much appreciated. Thank You.
