not sure what PEARLS we have?

my mother has aquired what we thought was a faux pearl double strand bracelet, but when i looked at it it seemed more of a doll necklace to me. It is 7 inches in length and both strands are graduated pearls. They are very heavy, and where the Lacqre has worn away we can see a very shiny nascent material we think is plastic or glass. the clasp is a small filagree sguare, either patina- ed or tarnished silver and on the slide is stamped a capital letter "M". The pattern on the slide clasp is a four petaled stylized flower, with "garnishes" for lack of a better word. Any idea what this is? Thankyou
