Necklace Chain | Sideways figure 8 ?

I have a Herringbone necklace stamped Italy 925 so I know it's sterling but is gold in colour so I assume it's gold plated silver.
It has a sideways figure eight symbol on the lobster claw clasp which I assume is the maker but can't find it online. Can anyone tell me what it means or where to look to find out? Thanks.
