it does look like a lovely ring, and it also looks like it's been very well-loved, a shame the mark has been compromised like that. This is a difficult one.... is that a crown next to the star we can just see.
Could you upload another photo as close-up as possible of the mark. Please type "Mystery marks | Follow up" in the subject field. Also could you provide more info, are there any other marks inside the band, apart from the name "hilda" that you mention? The ring appears to be made of gold, do you know the caratage?
