Apparently, there were quite a few companies that sold pearls under a name which started with M, had multi syllables and ended with -to, so as to capitalize on Mikimoto's popularity and quality.

Your wife's pendant sounds very beautiful and from your description, possibly - Mikimoto Pearls. The Mikimoto Pearl trademark is a M in an oyster shell shield. Once you are aware that the shield is in fact an oyster shell it becomes fairly easy to detect Mikimoto trademark.
