"S" can actually mean shirogane, which is Japanese for platinum... don't comment unless you know what you're saying. I would suggest getting the piece tested by a jeweler.

An S on a Mikimoto white metal piece is for silver. Think about it, s...silver. It would not be for platinum, sorry.
