Majorica Pearls
by: Anonymous

Hi Susan thank you for writing in with the Majorican pearl question.

The type of pearl, was actually mentioned Jean, in Susan's comment title :-)

Majorcan pearls are also called mallorcan pearls and Majorica Pearls. These pearls are in fact, imitation pearls made on the island of majorca, in the Balearic Islands of Spain.

With marine environments around the globe now under threat from global climate change, concerned marine biologists and the concerned general public would like to see more strands of imitation pearls like Majorica Pearls adorning the necks of women.

You can read more about Majorica Pearls Here.

best wishes, Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre

Girl with a pearl earring

did you mention the metal casing around the pearls, is it gold, silver or a non-precious metal? As for the pearls- are they natural pearls or faux pearls or cultured pearls - the age of the earrings are they vintage, scew-backs for instance, the numbers could be design numbers. Hard to say really but pearl earrings are an all time classic.
Jean
