Hi Stephanie thank you for writing in with the following vintage costume jewelry question:
"Do you know the history and value of this Miriam Haskell necklace? As stated, it is approx 6.5 wide by 10.5 inches long and is comprised of 19 1.25 filigree squares that have heavy filigree on the back side.
It also has four rhinestones on the corners of each square and a glass or plastic green bow set in each square. I have not been able to find any Miriam Haskell piece remotely similar to compare its history or value. It does also have a raised stamp in the clasp, which is also one of the 1.25 squares. It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any information on the necklace."
What an incredible looking necklace! Haskell Necklaces are the most sought-after due to the elaborate designs. The incredible Detail was also directly related to the amount of time it took to complete a piece, and thus the prices were driven up. Haskell's designs are just so distinctive and the value of Haskell pieces goes down dramatically if there?s any damage to fabrication because the elements are so difficult to replace.
Regards, Yvonne
