Marked 14 Kt, means it is 14 of 24 parts GOLD. Karat markings are not on silver or Platinum. It is white gold. Since nickel is not close to the density of gold, 14 parts gold and 10 parts nickel (and that's not exactly right, as there are other elements involved) basically means that by numbers of atoms, the color of the nickel wins over the gold. There is more gold by weight, but not on a molecular level.
I've been an estate jeweler for 27 years.

"Silver" Italian Bracelet Marked 14 K by: Anonymous
Hi thanks for writing it! 'Italy 14kt' means the bracelet is made in Italy from 14k gold. Gold in its purest form, is 24k and too soft to made jewelry so other metals are added to the pure gold, such as silver, nickel, zinc and copper to make it harder and more suitable for jewelry. If the metal is marked 14k and is white or "silver" colored, then it means that the metal is white gold and not yellow gold.
As 18k is the minimum standard for sale in Italy, this bracelet was probably made for the overseas market. Maybe for the tourist market.
