Scognamiglio - Italian Cameo and Coral Carvers by: Anonymous
Good afternoon!
Janice, thanks for writing in and thank you for the image! Janice I would be very surprised if your Mother's cameo was NOT made by a Scognamiglio cameo carver. It's important to know the history and the maker of the cameo before the "what's its Worth" question...
The Italian Scognamiglio Family Maison has a long family tree of fine cameo and coral carvers, designers and artists.
Beginning with Michele Scognamiglio, born in 1815. Michele was the first to start a small coral factory in 1857 in Via Puratorio no 112 in Torre del Greco -
Fast forward today and we discover Amedeo Scognamiglio, who taught himself the ancient art of cameo and coral carving when he was only 16 years old. Amedo moved to New York in 1997 to successfully run the family business. Amedeo's cameo designs are worn by many celebreties such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Ivana Trump, being featured by the most influential fashion and lifestyle magazines (Vogue, Departures, New York Magazine, Town & Country, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Elle, MarieClaire, W, Harper's Bazaar, among many others).
The M+M Scognamiglio collections designed by Amedeo soon landed at the best boutiques and specialty stores in U.S. such as Neiman Marcus, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Louis Boston. In 2002 Amedeo launched the ITALYCAMEO by M+M SCOGNAMIGLIO Show on national TV network Home Shopping Network ("HSN").
In January 2005 Amedeo was the recipient of the prestigious "Rising Star Award for Fine Jewelry" awarded by the Fashion Group International and was nominated "2005 Designer of the Year" by the JCK Magazine.
In 2007 the Scognamiglio Family celebrated the 150° ANNIVERSARY of the beginning of its business.
I suggest contacting Amedeo Scognamiglio in New York City - sharing the link below -
