My father bought my mother mikimoto while stationed in Japan in 1953; same clasp! Having trouble identifing as a true mikimoto pearls. would love to sell
Was at Mikimoto yesterday by: Anonymous
So I have a string of pearls with a VERY similar clasp and was in NYC yesterday so I took it to Mikimotos. They could not find a M or any other Mikimoto marking on it so they said they cannot verify it without paperwork.
This is a Mikimoto clasp by: pc Tong
I have a 24 inches pearl necklace comes with original Mikimoto box, it has the same gold gilded silver clasp (tiny stamped "Sterling Silver" on side of the clasp, hardly noticeable. No "M" clamshell hallmark) as shown the same in your picture. My mother hand it down to me, she passed away in the 80's, I did not pay any attention to the jewelry back then. The necklace is still in original condition, never been re-stringed, it still sit in the drawer with its original box, the quality and the condition looks perfectly fine. I truly believe it is from Mikimoto company. Way back the old days some of the Mikimoto clasps was no M marks. When I have a chance I would like to take it to Mikimoto company to verify it.
