Is my 120 year old chain gold?

I have been given a chain that is over 120 years old. It looks and feels like gold but I cannot find any hallmarks. There is no clasp as it is a long wrap around chain. I have tried the test with the magnet and it doesn't stick, how can I tell if this item is gold or not?
