Yes, I now believe this is the Gorham hallmark for gold. It definitely is not their silver hallmark. It is an impressed lion overlaid on an anchor.

Yes, I have the same mark on flatware that is also 14K. They are dated 1909 by an engraving on the handle. It looks like an anchor with a horse or lion or some other animal overlaid on the anchor. It also is marked 14K. There are no other marks denoting it to be English. (Yes, I know the anchor is an English Gold mark.) I reviewed the early Gorham symbol hallmarks and do not believe it is by Gorham. Although, I do believe it is by a company in the US. I can find a couple of auction records which show this mark, but no one identified who made it.

I think what we are looking at is a partial stamp of a lion over an anchor. Because the piece is curved and the points on the anchor are not fully formed.
