Curiosity
by: Anonymous

I inherited a lovely Emerald ring, with 10 small diamonds set about it. It is clearly marked CT14KP on one side, and marked ©AVIV on the other. I cannot find any information on this mark anywhere - do you recognize it? Or possibly have an idea where I could look? As far as I knew, AVIV manufactured SILVER jewellery, and I have not been able to find any gold jewellery connected to that name.

Italian Hallmarks
by: Yvonne

Hi Josephine! AR is the the italian province Arezzo where the goldsmith was registered. After 1934, each gold or silversmith was assigned a number in Italy. After 1968 a five pointed star was added to the left.

There is no Italian province abbreviation MA.
Napoli is NA, so just double check the gold marks with a jewelers loupe - MA could be the initials of the goldsmith.

best regards
