Hell upon earth question about sea -pearls by: Yvonne
Good Morning! Connie, a good, how-beit vexing question for any person involved in pearls.... the simple truth is that you can't really tell a strand of pearl's brand name (if it even has one) by looking at the pearls -
If the pearls in question are perfectly matched, which the strand of pearls in the photo appear to be, the question to ask, is: whether the pearls are cultured pearls or pearl imitations?
If you can determine the pearls are Cultured pearls, then you can gauge, to some degree, the quality of the pearl, by examining the pearls with a hand lens, look at the drill hole in the pearl, and the build-up of the nacre layers around the bead nucleus.
Natural pearls are something else altogether, these native pearls are rare, and consequently very valuable. No two Natural Pearls will be exactly the same.
