Hi and thank you for responding to my post. Yes, the 18K was the easy part. The manufacturer's mark is an AI. The two letters are encircled by an arrow; note the arrow head on the right side of the circle. Any ideas as to whose mark it may be is appreciated. I've looked at the jeweler's trademark site till I'm blue in the face (ok not really). Not sure if I mentioned this in the original post, but the strand was purchased new sometime around 1995.

the 18 k means the clasp is made of high carat gold indicating a quality strand of pearls. What is the second letter next to the A - it looks like an I but could be an L - the pearls are lovely BTW!
