Gold Mark- NSLC- Education Movement by: Yvonne Hammouda-Eyre
John, the NSLC was an education movement that originated in Cincinnati -National Service Learning Clearinghouse, (SA - singing association?). Possibly, this movement reached Great Britain.
"Cooperative education was founded at the University of Cincinnati in 1906 by Professor Herman Schneider. Its first period of growth from 1906 to 1942 was moderate but steady. Eight out of ten colleges and universities that began the program continued its operation, and by 1942 there were 30 successful programs in existence. Even the severe depression of the 1930's, when jobs were difficult to find, failed to halt the growth pattern. During the war years, most co-op programs were discontinued in favor of the emergency acceleration of academic programs. After the close of World War II, the second growth period in the cooperative education movement began in 1946..."

The hallmarks on the back of this medal identify the metallic composition ( 9 Karat Gold ) the initials of the maker, and the British mark, They do not identify what occasion or who commissioned or produced the medal or for what purpose. For that a good quality image of the front and back of the item would be necessary.
