Hi, I have done a bit of looking around for you on this matter.. Seems that Golsil, - 'Goldsil' if we go on a bit to Gold-Silver, it starts to make sense.
Golsil, refers to, (in your case a ring) solid Silver, which then has a 'sleeve' of Gold laid over it..
This is not the same as an item that is Gold plated, Golsil requires a much more substantial amount of gold.
You have said that the seller claimed it was 9k this could well be the case. As there is just a sleeve, often a higher grade is used, 14k,18k and as you cannot make out the hallmark, you may well get a nice surprise..
Might be worth you (for piece of mind) taking it to a jewellers and ask them to tell you what the Marks are, or a Paid Expert Opinion concerning the marks, or invest in a Jewellers Loupe (these nowadays are very inexpensive, £3-£5 try ebay, get a 10x magnification)
It of course depends on what you had to pay for the ring, but you do have a solid Silver and Gold ring..
I hope that makes you feel a bit more happy with your purchase.
