Is the a cameo? I am not sure, it was given to my mother and then to me from my grandmother ,who immigrated from Italy just after the turn of the 20th century. Not sure when my grandmother received it.

I know it is from Italy, was wondering if there is any way to know how old it is. I took it to a couple of jewelry appraisers, and was given dates of 1803- 1850 by one and late 1800's to early 1900's by another. Is there anyone or any way to get a closer age? The only markings on the piece is a signature above subjects left shoulder, which couldn't be read by either jeweler.

Any info would be a big help, going to gift this to my granddaughter.
