i had done this once before but here goes. I have a ring which has been checked out by an egyptologist and he said the markings are fake markings. in the eighteen hundreds many jewelers didnt have the equipment to put their whole name on the pieces so they used egyptian markings. he told me that the first one could represent the maker the middle one the factory and the third one was the gold content. my ring tests sixteen to eighteen carat gold hand made in russia. Also he said the russians were famous for using egyptian markings. i am looking to found out the exact meaning of the markings.

Hi I have a gold wedding ring that has an unusual mark on the inside band. It looks like a bird, not the head of a bird, but the whole bird.
On either side of the mark are letters but I cannot make them out. Im hoping you might be able to help me out.
Thank you
Bob

Hi, I have a vintage pair of costume (I think) earrings that have a maker's mark of a diamond with an A inside. I am not able to find who this is anywhere on the net, any help would be great. I have added pics of the earrings and the best pic I can of the maker's mark.
Thanks for your help,
Terry

I have this beautiful Egyptian scarab brooch made between 1900- 1920. It is marked in 4 different places on the back, one being on the pin but it doesn't have the bird. I have seen two of the marks on the egyptian silver mark site without the lotus or the cat. which I think is for Cairo. Could it still be gold and what ct is it likely to be. It has a trombone fastener and weighs 10 gms. Any information would be gratefully received.

Can someone please identify these markings. The ring has the face of George V on the front but it hasn't been cut properly - it has two noses, two chins and two necks! Which makes me suspicious. Does this mean it's fake, or could it still be real gold?
Thanks

There is a hallmark on a pendant of Queen Nefertiti that I'm unable to identify. It is a VI on the piece itself as well as on the ring that holds it. It was originally bought in Saudi Arabia in the '70's. Can you help. Thanks

The Teardrop tests 8K. The round tests 10K. I believe I bought them in Egypt (but not certain) about 40 years ago. The stylized "arrow" seems the same on both.

Is there a list of what Arabic gold hallmarks look like? I just need to know the karat marks, not anything else. Thanks!
