that's a good point you make concerning the gold purity mark and it being the international gold standard. Without the benefit of an image It might be easier to work out the date of the earrings by examining the earring findings rather than the mark.
For example, screw back unpierced earrings became popular in 1909.

I'm just thinking about your diamond earrings. The mark "750" on your earrings is the standard international gold content for jewelry. One reason is because this gold percentage combines purity with performance. And as 583/58.3% is the standard in USA , chances are they were not made in the USA.
Also I think you mentioned the E letter was in a TRIANGLE and not a Diamond shape?
