Double strand of Majorica pearls - but unmarked?

I purchased this double-strand of multiple colored baroque pearls from an estate - as MAJORICA. The smallest of the pearls is about 8 mm and the largest is over 16 mm. The whole thing is incredibly heavy - 8 ounces! Wow.

Anyway - the light wasn't that great and what I thought was the word Majorica on the inner side of the ball shaped clasp was actually the word METALL. grrr

Is there any chance this actually is Majorica but with a swapped-out clasp, or do you have any idea who would have made something like this? It really is gorgeous but...

...next time I'd better bring a pocket flashlight with me!
