Hi Judy

what an unusual cameo find! In Roman mythology Diana was the hunting goddess, she was often associated with wild animals, like deers and woodlands. Her Greek equivalent was Artemis.

Diana is often carved with at least one of her woodland animal friends. it is rare to see just the head of a deer!
