I have one identical to it but the lady faces the opposite direction. I believe it came from my late wifes side of the family and I don't really have the history. Found it when I downsized homes and moved out of the house we lived in for 30 plus years.

Cameo from Ukraine by: Anonymous
Hi Amelia thank you so much for writing in. What a fascinating cameo.
The fact that this piece of jewelry is from the Ukraine is interesting itself. You see, Ukraine have very strict customs regulations and travelers leaving the country are not allowed to take out jewelry from the territory of Ukraine, only the jewelry they had declared entering the country.
Travelers to Ukraine today July 2010 must declare all cash and jewelry, regardless of value, upon entering Ukraine. Undeclared items are, in fact confiscated.

Judging from the hardware/surround, the cameo pendant is not an antique cameo.
The actual cameo looks exquisite though. It looks similar to the banded agate cameo of the 1840-50s. Can you tell if it is made of shell, stone or composite material ? There are some excellent composition cameos/faux on the market. There is a way you can test cameo to see if it is composite material or not.
The number could be a batch number, factory number, not sure.
