Computerized Appraisal | Value of the Ring by: nanlie
My mother passed away in 2010 an she had some lovely pieces of jewelry. Recently I lost a 14K Heavy Gold Cleopatra style necklace and I was happy I remembered to get a jewelry policy that only covered up to $2500.00 item and without having any documentation or pictures I could find with me wearing it, I received the gold weight basically and that was worth $2200.00. The ring looks lovely but I can't tell the caret weight, clarity or identify the blue stone (probably sapphire), however as I finally did... I took a trip to a jeweler and had appraisals done on 7 pieces of mine and my mom's jewelry. I was astonished that one of my rings was more then $5000.00 and a bracelet had a value of more then $6000.00.
If that is a quality diamond of .75 points or more and the sapphire that looks like maybe .25 points (guessing)... the ring could be worth a couple thousand dollars. I suggest you take the trip to a jeweler who probably has the new computerized appraisal system available and who might do an appraisal for between $40 and $60 dollars...get it appraised and if valued over $2500.00, get an insurance policy on it. Congratulations and good luck.
