Clasps For Strand of Freshwater Pearls

Have an 18 inch strand to give to my daughter-freshwater-for her upcoming bday. I stalked this piece until it was low enough for me to afford it. However, I want to have the clasp replaced to ensure that they will be safe (the current 14 k clasp is a ring clasp).

Any clasp type in particular you would suggest for this size necklace? and also, considering this is for a 20th bday, something that will be durable?
