This mark is most likely the signature of the maker. There are lots of gold marks designating the gold standard mark, but this isn't one of them. Examine the chain closely and see if there are any other marks on any of the other links or the clasp. You can get it tested by your local jeweler to determine the gold content.
A photo of the mark, preferably three, taken from different angles, is necessary to help determine the maker's mark.
