This lovely gold necklace is Italian made, post 1968. In 1968 a new legislation ordered the maker's mark form changed to a rectangle with pointed sides and a five pointed star symbol added to the left. The three digits are the goldsmiths registered number and the two letters are the abbreviation of the province in which the goldsmith was registered. AP in this case, is the Italian province of Ascoll Piceno.
